NCVF National Tournament Results:
Both Arizona A & B made it to the gold bracket, A in Division I, B in Division II. Arizona B finished in 2nd place in the championship game against Texas A&M, ending their season ranked 2nd in the Nation. Arizona B are proud to announce and congratulate Emily Gregg and Samantha Rajkovich in receiving the All Tournament award.
Arizona A fought their way to the semi-finals, placing 3rd in Division I against the championship team, Marquette. Congratulations to Abbey Smith-Withey in being voted All Tournament!

Las Vegas Open Results:
BIG congratulations for the B team who got 1st place in the silver bracket in the Las Vegas Open, 17th overall!! They went undefeated all weekend 7-0, beating Sonoma State in finals in 2 games.
Congratulations to our A team for placing 5th place overall in the Las Vegas Open! They lost to the overall winning team in the semi-finals, but they are currently ranked #1 in the Nation as of February 15th!
Both teams did awesome and are now moving on the Nationals!

The Arizona A team went undefeated the whole tournament and won the championship in 3 games vs. UCSB.
The Arizona B team placed 5th in the tournament ending the tournament against Colorado State University in an intense 3 game match.

Save the date! The 5th Annual UA Club Volleyball Golf Tournament will be held Saturday March 3rd, 2012. Check-in starts at 7:00 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:00.

Arizona A wins UCSD Fun in the Sun Tournament; Arizona B finishes 3rd!
The tournament in San Diego over Valentine's Weekend proved to be successful for the entire club. Arizona A went undefeated for the weekend, beating UCSD in the finals. Arizona B went 4-2, losing on the first day to UCSD and in the semi finals to Arizona A.

Bruin Invitational: Arizona A Finishes 3rd, Arizona B Finishes right behind in 5th
Both Arizona A and Arizona B traveled to Los Angeles for the Bruin Invitational at UCLA. In the first day of the tournament, Arizona A finished with a 3-0 record having defeated UC Irvine, Cal Poly B, and the UCLA Alumni team. Arizona B started the day in a tough pool with the former National Champions UC Santa Barbara, but finished second in the pool and 2-1 on the day. The second day both teams did well enough in their challenge pools to go into the Gold Bracket of the tournament. Once in bracket play, Arizona A defeated rival ASU 25-19, 25-17 before losing in the semi finals to Cal Poly A. Arizona B lost to UCLA in the quarterfinals, 17-25, 25-23, 9-15. Overall it was a good showing by both teams. Arizona A had two all tournament team selections: Freshman Rightside Hitter Micaela Bisio, and sophomore Outside Hitter Layne Castro. Arizona B also had an all tournament selection: Freshman Setter Jeana Sckud. Congratulations!
Arizona A Competes in MLK Day Battle of the Bays Tournament in San Jose
In the first tournament of the year, Arizona A competed in the MLK Battle of the Bays Invitational Tournament featuring 24 teams. Using rankings from the prior year, the NCVF personally invited Arizona, as well as other top teams, to compete for the weekend. On the first day of pool play, Arizona finished first and won matches over Oregon, USC, and San Jose State. The second day featured additional pool play, followed by bracket play. Arizona again won matches over UCSD and Illinois, and entered bracket play with the overall second seed. In bracket play, Arizona received a first round bye and beat San Jose State in the quarterfinals. In the semi finals Arizona lost a tough match to Michigan with scores of 22-25, 22-25, which lead to a 3rd/4th place finish. Michigan went on to beat Cal Poly in the Finals. Two Arizona players were named to the All-tournament team: sophomore Gabby Grande and freshman Micaela Bisio!
